Are You Ready to Reimagine the Beloved Story of Alice in Wonderland?
Pure Life Theatre is thrilled to announce auditions for Alice by Heart! It's a great opportunity to lose yourself in a whimsical world where imagination and reality collide. This PG-13 musical reimagines the beloved story of Alice in Wonderland amidst the turmoil of World War II, blending magical storytelling with heartfelt emotion. With its enchanting music, poignant themes, and visually stunning staging, Alice by Heart reminds us that even in the darkest times, wonder and love can light the way.
Audition Details
Audition Date & Time: Tuesday, January 20 2026 | 7 - 10 pm (Be prepared to stay the entire time.)

Alice by Heart is about a group of young people who hide in an underground bomb shelter to escape the London Blitz during World War 2. They are led by ALICE, a girl growing into adulthood and struggling to accept the fact that her best friend is dying of tuberculosis. To escape, the devastation of her real life, Alice retreats into the fantasy world of her favorite book - Alice in Wonderland. Each of the characters therefore play both a modern role and at least one figure from the classic novel, reenacting its famous scenes through the contemporary lens of Alice's own psychological trauma.

Ensemble
Auditions will take place Tuesday, January 20 7-10 pm in the CHORUS ROOM in the Brown McPherson building at William Peace University. We will have someone there at the door to show people where this is.
Actors do not sign up for a time slot--prepare to stay for the entire time.
Actors do not need to present a monologue--they will read from the script. People will sing AND read from the script on the first day.

Actors should prepare a 16 to 32-bar selection from a song in the style of the show, and they should bring marked sheet music in a binder if possible.
​
Choreographer's Note: Strong movement skills are a plus! Movement-based performance and physically expressive performers encouraged!

Callbacks will take place Wednesday, January 21, 2026, 7-10 pm in LEGGETT THEATRE in the Main Building at William Peace University.
​
Actors called back will be asked to learn some short musical cuts from the score, read some scenes from the script, and learn some improvised movement routines.
Rehearsals for ALICE BY HEART begin March 16.
Performances are weekends April 24-May 3.
